The DPF Doctor: DPF Cleaning & Repair in Hertfordshire - Ad Blue and emission faults

DPF stands for Diesel Particulate Filter. HVS is an accredited member of the DPF Doctor Network - trained specialists in correctly diagnosing DPF problems and any other underlying issues that may have caused your car to:

  • give you a fault code,

  • enter ‘limp mode’ (loss of power) and/or

  • display the engine light on your dashboard.

HVS will diagnose the cause of your DPF issue and use our comprehensive diagnostic assessment to fix it. We will offer honest, practical advice and provide solutions regarding how best to resolve your DPF issue.

Filters are designed to trap particles such as harmful diesel exhaust soot particles therefore, to maintain optimum performance, regular cleaning is paramount. The regeneration process will use very high temperatures to remove the soot, enabling the now clean filter to take care of your engine.

There are many reasons that can affect the filter. When a DPF is blocked, this could be due to: the rate of particulates generated by the engine, the quality of the fuel or oil, driving style and types of journey, perhaps the location of the DPF in the exhaust system. Problems often arise in urban driving, where frequent stopping can affect effective regeneration. A dashboard warning light or message will indicate when the filter is full. Continuing to drive in the same manner will build up more soot and if further warning lights are ignored, the vehicle will go into ‘limp mode’ and require professional mechanical attention.
